UTSTEIN MONASTERY

Utstein Kloster is Norway's best-preserved medieval monastery, located in a protected cultural landscape half an hour's drive from Stavanger in the direction of Bergen. See more here: utsteinkloster


SOLA RUIN CHURCH

Sola ruin church was built in the 12th century and was in use until 1842 when it began to decay.In 1871, the painter Johan Bennetter converted the church into a residence and studio and it was used for this purpose until 1907. STAVANGER CATHEDRAL

According to tradition, Stavanger Cathedral was built in 1125 when Sigurd Jorsalfarer made Stavanger the episcopal seat.Bishop Reinald of Winchester was responsible for the construction and the church was built in Anglo-Norman style, probably by English craftsmen. OLAV'S CHURCH AT AVALDSNES

Just beyond the Nordvegen History Centre, is the beautiful medieval church Olavskirken, which was built around 1250 by Håkon Håkonsson.The church was then a royal chapel and part of the royal estate itself. See more here: olavskirken


VARHAUG OLD CEMETARY

Varhaug old cemetery is a listed cemetery located near the sea on the farm Varhaug.Former cemetery consultant Helge Klingberg described the cemetery as "a field with graves, a stone fence, sky and sea. That's all. Breathtaking." See more here: varhauggamlekirkegård
